Italian Green Beans
- 3/4 lb. fresh green beans or good quality frozen
- ~
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup coarsely chopped onions
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
- ~
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1. Wash green beans, drain, and cut into 1 1/2” pieces.
- 2. Heat oil over medium heat in the skillet or saucepan. Add green beans, onions, basil, and seasoned salt. Stir to incorporate seasonings and oil.
- 3. Cook, stirring often for 4 minutes. Add a couple tablespoons of water, cover, and steam for 2 minutes until green beans are just tender.
- 4. Add the garlic and stir, continuing to cook for 1 minute. Shut off heat and serve immediately. If not serving immediately, know that the green beans will continue to cook a bit even with the heat off.
- Lemon Option: Just before serving, stir in 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice.
- Small nonstick skillet or nonstick saucepan
