How To Cook Quinoa
If you read the quinoa packaging, you will see a ratio of 1:2 for quinoa to liquid, which produces cooked quinoa that clumps together. Using less liquid will give you a light, fluffy quinoa, and this is the method we prefer. Quinoa continues to expand in liquids, so plan your dishes accordingly. ~ June
- 1 cup quinoa
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 1. Measure quinoa and put in the saucepan. Fill with enough cold water to gently wash the quinoa. Using a splatter screen held firmly over the top of the pan, pour off the water. Repeat the process at least two more times.
- 2. Add 1 1/4 cups cold water and heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until all moisture is absorbed. Remove from heat and let rest, still covered, for another 5 minutes. Fluff and serve instead of rice, in soups, stews, or salads.
- 2-quart saucepan
