Baked Asparagus With Daiya Cheese
Choose asparagus with thin stalks if possible. If not, choose asparagus with uniform sized stalks. If the stalks are slender, watch to ensure they don’t burn in the baking process. ~ June
- 1 lb. asparagus, washed and tough stems removed
- ~
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon celery salt
- ~
- 2 tablespoons Daiya Mozzarella Style Shreds cheese
- 2 tablespoons buttery spread
- 1 1/2 tablespoons soft bread crumbs
- 1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (232 degrees C). Lightly coat baking sheet with oil or cover with parchment paper.
- 2. Rinse asparagus and cut into 3” pieces. Arrange in a single layer, touching each other on the baking sheet.
- 3. Mix onion powder and celery salt together, and sprinkle over the asparagus. Sprinkle with Daiya cheese and bread crumbs. Dot with the buttery spread.
- 4. Bake uncovered until asparagus is just tender, or about 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the asparagus. Serve warm.
- No Cheese Option: Eliminate the Daiya cheese, sprinkle with bread crumbs, and increase buttery spread to 1/4 cup.
